About My Clients
Relationships can be both very difficult and very rewarding. Through fairy tales and modern media we're often pitched the idea of a perfect union without seeing the behind-the-scenes grind that makes a good partnership possible. You've come to couples counseling because there's a part of you that believes in your relationship and wants to work towards improvement and long-term satisfaction.
My Background and Approach
At the centerpiece of my work is training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) where we work towards secure attachment based on communication, recognition, and attachment styles. We'll focus on deeper understanding of our partner and ourselves, while dissecting the automatic patterns that prevent us from resolving conflict in a healthy way. Both partners should be seen and heard by one another in the room, to the point that a genuine connection can be made and built upon.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy involves working in the mind, body, soul, and psyche to uncover possible defenses and limitations that are holding us back. Being a helpful therapist entails sitting (or standing, or hiking) with another, listening empathetically, and sometimes challenging them in healthy ways that'll promote growth.
