About My Clients
My clients, while diverse, always share one thing in common -- They have a genuine, earnest desire to work towards achieving their goals. Folks come to therapy with different concerns, different points of view, and at different stages in their lives. I always make it my goal to meet my clients where they are at. Therapy, while highly rewarding, can be challenging at times. My mission is to not only provide specialized treatment, but to help guide you through any challenges that arise.
My Background and Approach
I am a trained and licensed Doctor of Clinical Psychology, and my primary specialties are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I always begin therapy in the same place -- Trying to establish a genuine, nonjudgmental human connection, a therapeutic alliance. I believe, as my experience has taught me, that this is what sets the stage for truly effective therapy to really begin. Once I feel connected to and have a strong initial understanding of my clients, I then move into evidence-based treatment approaches. I draw, as I mentioned earlier, chiefly upon techniques from CBT and ACT schools of therapy. However, I use my experience and knowledge of psychology to uniquely tailor my treatment approach to every individual client. No one fits inside a box, nor should their treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My beliefs begin with an underlying philosophy: Everyone deserves someone to support them and help them grow. This belief motivates me to work hard to understand and learn from my clients, whatever roads they have traveled on throughout their lives. I think that finding common ground to feel more connected with my clients is important and human, but I also find it equally as crucial to lean into differences. Every single person I have ever worked with has had challenges in their life but also, crucially, strengths. I make it my mission as a therapist to identify and augment those strengths.
