About My Clients
I provide specialized care to address unique challenges of Silicon Valley families, executives coping with burnout and the LGBT+ community with an eye toward inclusion, non-judgment and sex-positivity. I work consciously with all variations of orientation, relationship, and gender in my practice, along with maintaining professional connections within the community to advance my work in sexual minority and gender-variant care (NCSF, WPATH).
My Background and Approach
I have a long history of treating adolescent and adult mental health in Silicon Valley. I offer in-office visits in Sacramento and San Jose. Often, we expect far too much from ourselves. Clients are invited into a space without expectation and where they are free to be themselves, without fear of judgement or misunderstanding. Adults can sometimes struggle to find space to hold compassion for themselves amidst their roles (parent, spouse, manager, executive). Teens can use space to build confidence in their capacity for independence. All relationships need time and space to feel heard, while building tools for communication. Teens and adults build self-compassion along with freedom of authentic expression. Relationships bring down barriers and see each other anew through a retelling of their story. Queer people can be comfortable sitting with a therapist who belongs to their community and can identify with many shared struggles and triumphs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a strong personal belief in the importance of LGBT-centered healthcare, including increasing equity and access. I have volunteered as an HIV test counselor for the UCSF Alliance Health Project, spent multiple years as a roadie for AIDS Lifecycle, and have served as a therapist for teens impacted by HIV through the UCLA Pediatric AIDS Coalition. I continue to participate in the Gender-Affirming Letter Access Project, providing some no-cost assessment and letter-writing services to the transgender community.
