About My Clients
My clients are broad in range. Some of my clients arrive at my practice ready to work on sexual dysfunction and how to become empowered in their bodies. Some of my clients are CNM and are looking for a therapist to help them work through relational issues. Some of my clients are looking for a kink aware space to just be. Also, close to my heart, are those clients struggling with infertility or miscarriage. SWT is a place of comfort, acknowledgment and acceptance.
My Background and Approach
While in college, working on my Bachelors in Psychology, I realized I wanted to become a Sex Therapist. (I believe embracing your body and loving your sexuality only enhances your mental health. ) Well, before I could become a Sex Therapist, I recognized the need to find a solid therapy program focusing on relationships. (And I found one!) In 2008, I graduated from Southern Methodist University, packed my bags, and moved to Mississippi for a Marriage and Family Therapy Program. I graduated from University of Southern Mississippi in 2010 with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. After a few years of practicing, I realized it was time to focus on my passion. With some thorough research, I found a well respected program at the University of Michigan. I completed their Sexual Health Certificate Program in 2014 and have been practicing since then. Along the way, I gained experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that embracing our sexuality means empowering ourselves. I am not here to judge your sexual preference, relationship status, kinks, or gender. I am here to support you on your journey to a sexual awareness, to relieve you of trauma related to sex and desire, and to create a freedom to embrace who you are.
