About My Clients
It can be lonely to feel like you are unseen, unheard, and that you're not understood as you are. At Healing Village, you are not alone, you are valid, and you are whole. Too often, individuals are reduced to who they love, who they are, or the sum of their parts, but are not seen as a whole person. At Healing Village, you'll have the freedom to explore what is preventing you from living the best version of yourself and to develop practical skills to move through whatever has you stuck.
My Background and Approach
My private practice is a safe, open, and non-judgmental place. I believe therapy is a sacred journey. The roadmap to success is yours to write, I just happen to have some extra tools to make the path a bit smoother and more efficient. I believe firmly in self-determination, informed consent, and trust that you are the expert on yourself and your lived experience. My main therapeutic approaches are psychodynamic, rational-emotive behavior therapy, and attachment theory. What this means is that 1) I believe the relationships we have in our early life (and the associated failures, struggles, and successes) shape our worldview and future relationships, 2) When we experience something difficult or traumatic our worldview shapes the way we think and feel about the event and therefore how we behave in response, and 3) Our relationships with others past and present shape our life experiences and resilience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an out queer, genderqueer, and transgender therapist. I am also a secular therapist and a Humanist Celebrant. I believe every human has the distinct right to live their best life, as their authentic self without fear of retribution or shame - as long as to do so does not harm others. I believe in lifelong learning and that to be the most effective therapist for my clients means staying up-to-date on the most current practices and attending trainings as often as I am able.
