About My Clients
Have you spent your life thinking that who you are is fundamentally "wrong", perhaps due to being neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, or raised in a restrictive religious environment? Do you feel empty and alone, just "going through the motions"? Struggling with shame, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues rooted in trauma? These valid struggles can make an authentic life seem unattainable, but addressing them can turn hopes for a better life into reality.
My Background and Approach
As an existential-humanistic therapist, my mission is to help you uncover and embrace the profound meaning and authenticity within your life. While I have worked with clients from a variety of different backgrounds, I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community. I love supporting queer individuals as they navigate and transform challenges like negative coming-out experiences, religious trauma, and familial rejection into sources of strength and empowerment. In our therapeutic partnership, I see myself as a fellow traveler on your journey to healing. Together, we’ll explore every facet of your being with openness and without judgment. We may encounter aspects of yourself that feel uncomfortable or difficult, but in our safe, supportive space, I encourage you to delve into these areas. By understanding and integrating them, you can foster a healthier relationship with yourself and live a more genuine, fulfilling life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that our identities and backgrounds—i.e. race, sexuality, gender identity, socio-economic status, and religion—deeply influence our mental health, especially when we are marginalized due to these identities. This is why I invite my clients to talk about their intersecting identities and how the world today influences their well-being. As a gay man raised in the South, I deeply understand the impact of growing up in a restrictive and unsupportive environment. My journey of overcoming shame and internalized stigma only began when I found support from Queer-affirming providers. This experience taught me that with the right support, transformation is not just possible—it’s within reach for everyone. In my free time, I love to keep up with the latest season of Drag Race and be chronically online.
