About My Clients
Do you feel lost, confused, anxious, out of balance, and not quite yourself? Have you experienced a significant loss or change? Rocky relationships making life stressful? Or is unresolved trauma keeping you stuck? Help is possible. Many of my clients are facing grief and loss, challenges with relationships, unhealed traumas, depression, anxiety, and stress. My clients want to improve their day-to-day experiences and have positive relationships that add purpose and harmony to their lives.
My Background and Approach
I have earned Masters degrees in Counseling and Women's and Gender Studies. I'm a nationally certified counselor and never stop learning. I also have a wealth of life experiences as a mom, widow, midlifer, caregiver, and more that inform my empathetic lens. My clients earn my utmost respect before they even step through the door for their unique experience. When working with clients, I strive to individualize the therapeutic approach and use creativity to meet my clients' needs and goals. One of my core philosophies is that the growth we seek often begins with a deeper understanding of the self. Learning how to harness emotional regulation is key as well. While I use a variety of modalities to reveal the self and address stuck points, I most often rely on CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), narrative, psychodynamic, existential, ACT, and mindfulness approaches. I like to incorporate expressive modalities, like art and music, and strive to increase the mind-body connection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I accept and embrace all individuals as they are. While there are many causes I openly support, I am often volunteering in my children's educational community and donating to causes that support food insecurity. Whenever I can, I advocate for mental health causes.
