About My Clients

I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults of diverse identities and neurological experiences. I prioritize each client's comfort and sense of safety to create a brave space where we can work together to deepen personal insight, increase self-compassion, and work through difficult memories, feelings, thoughts, and relationships together. Many of my clients enjoy using creative approaches to help identify and process their emotions and beliefs, including mindfulness exercises and music.

My Background and Approach

I have experience working with individuals impacted by recurring or treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, chronic medical conditions, cognitive decline and dementia, personal loss, and end-of-life issues. My strongest therapeutic influences include person-centered, positive psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) frameworks. I also have experience working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) models. As a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), I believe music can be a powerful tool for personal insight and growth. With clients who are interested in exploring their relationship with music, I combine talk therapy with music-based experiences to find the therapeutic approach that works best for each individual. Through music listening, improvisation, songwriting, and guided imagery experiences, we can utilize the power of music to reach depths that are beyond conscious awareness.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a straight, white, cisgender female therapist and am continually expanding awareness of my own sociocultural privileges and how they influence my work with clients. I strive to be gender affirming, sex positive, polyamory friendly, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive in my therapeutic approach. I am committed to resisting discrimination and oppression in any form. I celebrate body size diversity, LGBTQIA+ identities, disability inclusivity, and cultural humility. I advocate for the research and development of alternative treatments for chronic depression, anxiety, and PTSD, including psychedelic assisted therapy. I have particular interest in working with individuals undergoing ketamine therapy for mental health issues. I have many years of experience in the areas of music performance, hospice care, chronic and terminal illness, dementia and Alzheimer's caregiving, and career and life transitions, and can relate in these areas on a very personal level.
