About My Clients
I help other neurodivergent people, primarily Autistic and/or ADHDers from a disability justice, fat liberation, LGBTQIAP+ affirming perspective. It's my greatest privilege to support others who have felt “othered”, shamed, and not feeling “good” because the world tells us we are wrong for existing as our authentic selves. I believe as humans we can never be broken, but we can be in debilitating pain, and we need help to be fulfilled in our lives. It's my passion to help.
My Background and Approach
To support you in being your most authentic and healthy self, I incorporate aspects of many different therapy modalities to give non-pathologizing, neurodiversity-affirming care that is specifically tailored to meet your needs. Our therapy will be from an intersectional approach– looking at how your environment, society, and experiences impacted and continue to affect your life. Some of my clients have never been in therapy before, and some of them have seen a handful of therapists before stumbling on to me, and while none of which felt "right" (or caused harm), they haven't given up hope yet. In therapist jargon: I use aspects of Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic, Feminist psychotherapy with some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Polyvagal Theory and Nervous System Regulation, Mindfulness, & Somatic-based Practices in order to best support you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer, fat, disabled, neurodivergent, white ciswoman. I am Brasilian-American, a cat-mom, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I provide an intersectional approach to therapy because we are intersectional beings. To quote Audre Lorde, “There is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.” I understand that stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression are all impacted by our environment and our lived experiences in a society that is structurally and socially oppressive to some of us more than others (especially those of us that are Autistic, ADHD, and/or have C-PTSD). As your therapist, it is my honor to affirm and validate your worth and value through challenging negative self-narratives while supporting you in creating a life that makes you feel fulfilled--your best life.
