About My Clients
I specialize in working with adults and older adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or going through life transitions - whether that's career, relationship, or restarting your life. Having worked in the healthcare setting, I am well versed in working with healthcare professionals navigating burnout. I enjoy working with individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals practicing/exploring non-traditional relationships (e.g., ethical non-monogamy, kink)
My Approach to Helping
My goal as a therapist is to equip you with the necessary tools you to feel empowered to live your authentic life. Although I draw upon my professional and intersectional personal experiences as a Taiwanese, bisexual, and ethically non-monogamous person, I meet you where you are in your journey and follow your guidance in how you define your personal experiences. I use humor and integrate pop-culture, gaming, geek-doms, and philosophy when appropriate and try my best to explain therapeutic concepts into plain language. I assign homework, activities, or readings between sessions for those who really enjoy doing that. But I will not force it upon clients who do not enjoy that type of work. I find it valuable to at least have my clients think about what we discussed in session or practice specific techniques learned in session, because that will help reinforce what we are working on together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the fundamental right to live in a way that aligns with their values. We are all trying to make sense of the world we live in and how we interact with this world, and I thoroughly enjoy helping people figure that out. I identify as belonging with the larger the LGBTQIA+ community, sex-positive/kink community, and ethically non-monogamous community.
