About My Clients

Trauma disconnects us from our authenticity. It is the root cause of compulsive behaviors, dissociation, and that inner, critical voice that tells us negative messages about ourselves. I believe that just talking about our experiences is unlikely to do the trick: to heal, we must feel. My goal is to empower you to heal the root cause of your compulsive thoughts/behaviors; to look beneath the soil, rather than just clip the leaves.

My Background and Approach

Wouldn't it be great to turn that inner, critical voice into our biggest supporter? To help you to achieve this, I tap into my extensive training as a somatic therapist, while drawing on my own experiences of “doing the work.” I have had success with clients who had plentiful experience in therapy without achieving their goals. Whether or not you wish to work with me, I highly encourage you to try somatic therapy if you have the opportunity. As well a somatic experiential therapy (SomEx), I am trained in Brainspotting (similar to EMDR), recovery coaching, and Trauma Informed Care. I combine attachment theory with emotional regulation theory and take an experiential approach, for I believe that we learn through experience, rather than from being told what to do. You are not what you have done, and I aspire to co-create an environment of acceptance, non-judgment, and compassion.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in professional sports and as a corporate executive. While studying attachment theory, I worked as a volunteer caregiver to Cambodian children living on the Thai island of Koh Chang. I continue to support the school and visit multiple times per year. I have also worked as a recovery coach. I am systemic in my approach, always seeking to understand people in the context of their environments, cultures, and family backgrounds. I have experience of treating multigenerational trauma and especially enjoy doing Family of Origin and inner child work with clients. My hobbies include travel, meditation, cooking, baking, volunteering, exercise, and watching sports.
