About My Clients
Struggling to understand who you are or feeling overwhelmed by past trauma and emotional challenges? Whether you're dealing with the complexities of LGBTQ+ issues, mood disorders, or the lasting effects of trauma, I get it. It’s tough to feel disconnected and lost. My approach blends expressive arts, somatic techniques, and humanistic principles to help you reconnect with yourself and find healing. Let’s work together to empower you with the tools to embrace change and growth.
My Background and Approach
I’m passionate about using both neurobiology and artistic therapy techniques to support healing and growth. I’ve spent a year working in diverse settings, including university environments and private practice. My experience spans Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, and a deep focus on trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, and mood disorders. I see clients at Village Counseling, a practice that focuses on the holistic view of the person and adding mental health therapy to your "village" of resources. I love integrating somatic and expressive arts techniques into my work, as they help clients connect their emotional healing to their body in a way that traditional talk therapy often can’t. This approach fosters a deeper understanding and acceptance of oneself, making the healing process more impactful. I take pride in building strong, collaborative relationships with my clients, approaching our work together as a partnership grounded in candor, togetherness, uniqueness, and growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we may not have had control over what happened to us as children, but we do have control over how we heal as adults. I think that everyone is capable of change and that we are all doing the best we can with the resources we have. I believe educating ourselves and expanding our awareness and empathy is the best way to begin bridging the gaps in our society. I am an active member of Texas SAIGE (Society for Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities), previously serving as Emerging Leader and currently as a Trustee for the Board. We attend Advocacy Days at the Texas State Capitol, where we talk with leadership and legislation about bills concerning LGBTQ+ citizens and advocate for changes in policies that positively enrich and protect these populations. I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association and regularly attend the Professional Growth Conferences to continue my education as well as connect and network with other counselors and clinicians.
