About My Clients
I keep my practice open to a diverse range of clients, and to those who understand that the therapeutic relationship is the key to positive therapeutic outcomes. I have experience working with a diverse range of issues like childhood development issues, mood disorders, relational and social issues, everyday stress, grief, cognitive developmental issues, and even personality disorders. I have done a lot of work with school-aged boys and young men. Just to be clear I do work with other genders.
My Background and Approach
M.A. in Holistic Counseling Psychology with an emphasis(certification) in Buddhist Psychology. A lot of the training was in Body-Oriented Psychotherapy practices, mindfulness, Jungian/In-Depth, an understanding of the role of spirituality, and general clinical skills with many populations including children and elderly. I wrote my masters thesis on The Implications of Reiki Integrated Psychotherapy. I am certified in Hakomi Level 1, body oriented psychotherapy with a strong emphasis on mindfulness. I tend to do more in-depth and body-oriented work with adults. I have done impactful work with countless children and teens. A lot of active, "off the couch", and play based therapy. Seeing through the lens of early attachment and how that plays out in everyday life. Assessing for missing developmental experiences, unmet needs, traumas, or biological differences impacting functioning. Then I strategize with the kids/families to better adjust or meet unmet needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Within all of us is a Self that is whole, our true nature. It takes deep work, introspection, awareness and self-expression to get through the "muck" and align with the True Self. It also takes a safe, compassionate, and healthy environment to get there. My intention is to provide this kind of environment for my clients. There are not any shortcuts, it takes effort and commitment. It is likely that aligning with the Self is not a one time thing. It may seem to come and go throughout life's trials and tribulations, but it is always there directing us at some level and awaiting our return. Our society is moving further and further from mother nature, and as that happens we also get further from our true nature. We need to get outside and connect with the wild. Making time away from the screens and technology. We also need to make more time for one-on-one human connection. I offer outdoor/ nature based sessions to facilitate that often missing part of the human experience.
