About My Clients
Much of my experience and expertise is in working with trauma and suicide, as they emerge in a variety of contexts. I also have experience working with issues of spirituality, mood and psychotic disorders.
My Background and Approach
I work with people and help to find freedom and agency within the constraints of life and circumstance. I'll work collaboratively and non-judgmentally with you to explore your needs and and navigate a way forward. I generally take an Existential approach to treatment but also utilize family systems and dynamic approaches . As a clinical psychologist, I have worked in a variety of different settings and with a diversity of individuals in the areas of race, age, spirituality, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and socioeconomic status. I have worked in private practice, hospitals and with community health/ mental health agencies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the suffering we feel emerges from constraints and limitations of the world and others, as well as within ourselves. Sometimes, a circumstance can rapidly bring on such suffering, where for others it can feel like a lifelong effort to live the way one wants. In spite of the pain we feel in moments of weakness and struggle, I believe that these moments can be tremendous opportunities for growth and self-understanding. I also believe in the impact of one's social, historical and environmental context on an individual's well-being and work to explore the intersections of these areas in treatment.
