About My Clients

I help children, teens, adults and families work through issues related to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, coping with chronic illness, domestic violence, trauma, divorce and relationship transitions, addiction, parenting support, bullying and school related stress, opposition and anger. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I will be accepting, flexible and non-judgmental, whether you're exploring questions around gender identity and/or sexual orientation, or just need someone who gets it.

My Background and Approach

Finding a therapist who you connect to is important in achieving your goals. With over 20 years experience, I bring warmth, compassion, humor, truthful communication and collaboration to the therapy process, offering a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings creatively and work toward solutions and resolutions at your own pace. My approach to therapy is relational. Therapy is a co-created and active process; I bring myself fully to sessions, encouraging my clients to do the same, in order for them to explore risks, take comfort, and find their own voice. I approach treatment from a person-centered standpoint, matching interventions and approaches to the needs and goals of each client, such as: psychodynamic, humanistic, arts-based approaches, trauma-informed practice, EMDR, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals of all ages. I am a licensed Creative Arts Therapist, adjunct professor of Drama Therapy at NYU, and hold post masters certification in LGBTQ affirming psychotherapy, trauma-informed arts based treatment, and am EMDR Trained. In addition to my therapy work, I'm a published author, specializing in gender and sexuality affirmative psychotherapy across all ages. I frequently teach and provide trainings on the use of creative arts therapy with LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive individuals and their families. I am passionate about creating a safe, creative and affirming space for his clients, both in the office and more importantly within themselves. I run a group practice with a team of great clinicians that provides services weekdays, evenings and weekends, offering sliding scale and low fee options for those in financial hardship or who need a reduced rate.
