About My Clients
Psychotherapy is a healing practice used to address mental illness and improve wellbeing. People pursue counseling with me for all manner of issues related to the human experience. Some of the more common examples include difficulties with anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, loneliness, self-esteem, and addiction. I also have particular experience treating teenage boys, married couples, men struggling with anger management, ADHD, and adults living with trauma or PTSD.
My Background and Approach
My academic degrees include a BA in Psychology, and an MA in Professional Counseling with a focus in Clinical Mental Health from a CACREP accredited program. I have also completed the national licensing exam, and all clinical practicum hours required by the Texas State Board of Professional Counselors to practice in the state of Texas. Prior to opening my private practice, I gained experience in a variety of mental health settings including outpatient, inpatient psychiatric, residential rehab, and non-profit. In addition to the extensive education and training required for my license, I have advanced certifications in EMDR therapy for trauma, and Gottman Method couples counseling.
My Values as a Therapist
I believe that everyone has an innate ability to heal and find fulfillment. Sometimes the stress of life piles on and we lose touch with that instinct. That's where therapy comes in. Together we can pool our tools and perspectives to help you regain clarity and direction. At times in therapy, I will offer science-backed insights into human behavior and psychology. More importantly, I will listen, give you space, and strive to understand the depth of your unique situation. The first step in making sense of your story is to tell it.
