About My Clients
In West Hollywood, I help people who feel stuck, whether in anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or life transitions. My approach is warm, direct, and focused on depth of understanding that leads to lasting change. I have expertise in working with sexuality, gender identity, and discomfort with our body. Sometimes we feel like we don't fit with the world around us or even within ourselves. No matter where you’re starting, we’ll work together to help you move forward toward what you want.
My Background and Approach
I'm a psychotherapist in West Hollywood. I've been seeing clients since 2011 and I'm licensed in both California and Texas. We feel pain in many ways—worry, shame, anger, confusion, sadness, and how we are taught to "deal" with our pain informs so much of how we experience ourselves and the world. Maybe you’ve been told to “just get over it,” or you’ve learned to push through, but something isn’t working anymore. Sometimes the patterns that once helped you survive now keep you stuck. Our first goal in therapy is to understand, with curiosity and acceptance, why you feel and act the way you do. However, awareness alone doesn’t bring change, it creates choice. I focus on our emotions because they often reveal what words can’t. By listening to and understanding what our emotions are communicating we can to address what's truly at the root of our struggles. Most clients see improvement once we understand their needs and move toward satisfying them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I care deeply about the people I have the honor of knowing. I believe in everyone’s capacity to grow, connect, and find fulfillment. Yet the pain of our past can isolate us from our own possibilities and from recognizing the goodness in others. I strive to approach all people and experiences with curiosity and gratitude. As an LGBTQIA+ person with a profound religious background, I know the heartbreak of inner conflict and the loss of family and community simply for being who you are. My journey has been one of finding acceptance, both for myself and from those who matter to me. I’ve been involved in several organizations that help people navigate the tension between sexual/gender identity, faith, and family, including the first official LGBTQ+ group on an evangelical seminary campus. It’s among the work I’m most proud of. That, and planting trees. I love trees, especially eucalyptus. Also kayaking. And playing the ukulele.
