My Background and Approach
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I have obtained my license for Professional Counseling, as well as, a National Counseling Certification. I also received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Michigan. I am trained in the art of yoga and meditation, as well as, mindfulness-based and cognitive based therapies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe change is possible when people feel safe, supported, and empowered to make the life changes they want to see for themselves. I think we are all born with a story, however, through empowerment and self-awareness we are able to write the chapters of our lives that align with our most authentic selves. As a clinical counselor, I strive to provide a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment for my clients to be able to openly discuss any life challenges they may face. I believe the therapeutic alliance between us is the foundation of the counseling process and I hope to provide an empathetic, trauma informed, and judgment free counseling environment for my clients to express themselves openly. I believe everyone has their own unique life experiences and deserves to live a healthy life, regardless of what life experiences they may have endured or any mental health challenges they may be working on.
